Almost upholstery

My original idea, and hence the name – retrobox – was to revitalise old sewing boxes.  I have a done a couple and had a spell of buying them but I hadn’t done one for a while.  They are really quite fiddly and if it is to sell, well, there is a limit to how much someone is going to pay for a sewing box no matter how lovely.  But I do love the shape of some of the 50’s ones and a while back a red and black corduroy one caught my eye.  I don’t have a picture.  How stupid, but this was it when it had its old and very smoky covering removed.

It’s finished

It’s hard to believe as there hasn’t  been a fly past by the red arrows or a fanfare from the massed bands of the household guard, perhaps they have been delayed at the Christmas light switch on, but it is actually, completely and properly finished.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder…

… it certainly doesn’t when it comes to upholstery.  I return to this reluctantly, only slightly cheered to realise I have already done a row of stitching for the front edge.  But I make a concerted effort to make some headway with the seat so I can at least get the black plastic off.
